(Spruce Grove, AB) – Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced today the club has acquired goaltender Jameson Kaine from the Langley Rivermen of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) in exchange for a player development fee.

Kaine, an established goaltender, joins the Saints after spending the previous season as a starter in the BCHL with the Langley Rivermen. Overall, Kaine played 30 games last season, finishing with a 16-9-3 record, along with a 3.19 goals against average and a 0.907 save percentage.

Prior to his time in the British Columbia Hockey League, Kaine developed with the Vancouver Hawks in the British Columbia Elite Hockey League’s U18AAA division. He played one season with the program, boasting four shutouts and a record of 16-3-0 through 20 games.

The 19-year-old left-handed catching goaltender is listed at 5’11”, 165lbs and will join the Saints this week, prior to Friday night’s game vs. the Grande Prairie Storm.

General Manager Rob Sklaruk spoke about Kaine joining the team saying, “Jameson is a competitive and extremely hardworking goaltender who moves well laterally in the crease. We are excited to provide him an opportunity to continue to improve his game here in Spruce Grove. I am excited to see Kaine in a Saints jersey later this week.”

An enthusiastic Kaine spoke about joining the Saints, saying, “I have heard a lot of great things about the Saints organization, specifically the history of the team and the elite level talent they continue to produce. I am thrilled to arrive in Spruce Grove and set my sights on a championship.”

The Saints would like to welcome Jameson and the Kaine family to the organization.

Spruce Grove finished the opening weekend with a split against the Sherwood Park Crusaders. The Saints are back on home ice this Friday, as they take on the Grande Prairie Storm.
