The opening period showcased outstanding goaltending by Beckett Langkow, hailing from Vegreville, AB, as he thwarted the Oilers’ attempts to score. The period concluded with an exhilarating buzzer-beating goal by Trey Fechko of Vernon Hills, IL, setting the tone for the Saints.
As the game transitioned into the second period, the Saints maintained their relentless offensive pressure. Carter Oakenfold from Calgary, AB, quickly found the net, increasing the Saints’ lead to two goals.
