Six Different Players Score, As Saints Top Storm 6-3

(Spruce Grove, AB)In a game where six different Saints players scored, the Spruce Grove Saints defeated the Grande Prairie Storm in a 6-3 win! 

The first period contained twenty shots produced by the Saints; however, none of the players could capitalize on any of those opportunities. 

An action-filled second period contained goals from three Saints players and two goals from one Storm player. Evan Sundar (St.Albert, AB) scored early to put the Saints up by one. A few minutes later, Brandon Spaulding (Agawam, MA) scored short-handed to increase the Saints’ lead by two. Soon after Spauldings’ goal, Hudson Scrimshaw scored to cut the lead in half. A few minutes after Scrimshaw’s goal, he scored his second of the night to tie the game at two-a-piece. Then, with just six seconds left in the period, Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) scored to take back the lead! 

Beginning the third period with the Saints leading 3-2, Liam Watkins (Okotoks, AB) netted one home early on the powerplay. Two minutes after Watkins’ goal, Peter Copetti scored on the powerplay to put the Storm within one. Soon after, Alexander Babich (Chicago, IL) scored to restore Spruce Grove’s two-goal lead. To end the game with eighteen seconds left, Ethan Leyer (St.Albert, AB) sent the puck to Simon Lovsin (Stony Plain, AB) to get him the empty-netter for his first AJHL goal! 

The Spruce Grove Saints went on to conquer the Grande Prairie Storm in a 6-3 win!

The Saints have a home and home this weekend against the Drayton Valley Thunder, in Drayton Valley on Friday, returning home to Grant Fuhr Arena on Saturday.
