Saints Set Franchise Record For Most Home Ice Wins With 4-3 Victory Over Oil Barons

The Spruce Grove Saints set the franchise record for most home-ice wins with a 4-3 victory against the Fort McMurray Oil Barons.

One minute into the first period, Olivier Lamothe put one home to give the Oil Barons an early lead. Then, just over halfway through the first frame, Ethan Leyer (St.Albert, AB) tipped one on net to tie the game at one.

Halfway through the middle frame, Olivier Lamothe scored his second of the night to take back the lead for the Oil Barons. Less than a minute later, Carter Oakenfold (Calgary, AB) netted one home to tie the game 2-2. Thirty seconds later, Keefe Gruener scored on the powerplay to put the Oil Barons up 3-2.

Early into the third period, Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) sniped one bardown to again tie the game at three!

Sixty minutes solved nothing so the game headed to overtime and then a shootout! With a save from Jameson Kaine (Vancouver, BC) in the fifth round, the Saints defeated the Oil Barons with a final score of 4-3!
