The Spruce Grove Saints have named their captain for the 2016-17 season. 20 year old defenseman Dexter McLeod is in his second season and a veteran of the Saints blueline, being an integral part of last seasons’ team that made the AJHL Championship series for the third straight year.
“McLeod epitomizes what it means to be a Saint. He’s mature beyond his years and on and off the ice. His character, work ethic, and attention to detail make him a natural leader.” says new Head Coach/GM Mike Ringrose. The Edmonton, AB native adds his name to an impressive line of Saints captains which includes recently graduated Tyler Busch, Parker McKay, Corey Chorneyko, Tim Nolte, David Glen, Bryce Van Brabant, Malcolm Tomlinson, Connor Hardowa, Jordan Kary, Jordan Ceh, Jonathan Li and Jeff Oginski.
“It's a great honor for me to be named captain of Spruce Grove, a club which has had great success over their time in the league. I'm looking forward to welcoming in a large group of new and young players to the organization as well as being able to deal with Coach Ringrose in his first year as head coach, states McLeod “I can't wait to get things started and I'm thankful to the organization for this opportunity.”
