Saints Mitchell selected to represent Canada at U17 Championships

The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that defensemen Ian Mitchell, has been selected to Team Canada White for the World U-17 Challenge!

The 16-year old Calahoo Ab. native is enjoying a successful start to his 1st season in the AJHL, and is also only 1 of 2 AJHL players selected to the U17 Challenge.

At 5’10”, 165lbs, Ian is off to a flying start this year in the AJHL as he has 2 goals, 6 assists for  8 points in 17 games.   A slick play making defensemen, Mitchell comes to the Saints from the St. Albert Midget AAA Raiders hockey program. Last season with the Raiders saw Mitchell tally 1 goal 10 assists for 11 points and 6 PIMS in 27 games

This seasons U-17 Tournament will be hosted by Dawson Creek and Fort St. John, British Columbia, and runs from October 30th to November 7th.  The tournament will see teams compete from across Europe (Czech Republic, Finland Russia and Sweden) an entry from the United States as well as 3 teams from Canada (Team White, Team Black, Team Red and Team White).
