Saints Land NAX Prospect Lorenz With LOI

(Spruce Grove, AB) – The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 2002 born forward Logan Lorenz has signed a letter of intent for the 2019-2020 season.

The pipeline between the Northern Alberta Xtreme hockey club and the Spruce Grove Saints continues to flow as Lorenz follows the path of current Saints Nick Leyer, Jaxsen Wyatt, and Bruce MacGregor from the Xtreme to the Saints.

In 31 CSSHL contests this season Lorenz has tallied 11 goals, 23 assists and 4 penalty minutes placing 4th in team scoring.
Head Coach/Assistant GM Bram Stephen broke down the Consort, AB products game.

“Logan’s progression as a player has shown a very steep incline over the last 12 months, putting him at the forefront of our scouting staff’s minds. He’s a responsible two-way centerman, excels in the face off dot and we feel that there is still a ton of room to grow offensively as a player.” Stephen continued.

“The offensive instincts are present for Logan, he is a well-rounded for his age, possesses a great tool box of skills and very coachable. We are thrilled Logan has committed to our program.”

Standing 5’9” and 145 lbs. Lorenz has some filling out and strength to gain, however you wouldn’t know it as his on-ice smarts and compete level make up for his slight frame.

General Manager Rob Sklaruk likened Lorenz’s game to a current Saint and former NAX player.

“Logan has a similar style of play to current Saint Bruce MacGregor, while not the biggest players, they both have a tenaciousness to their game. In midget both played center on lines featuring highly skilled offensive wingers which required a centermen who could not only think the game on a high level but be the reliable presence on the ice and get those players the puck. Logan does that very well, which should lead to continued success at the junior level.” Sklaruk continued.

“Logan is eager to learn and comes to the rink with the proper attitude every day. That’s a strong testament to his character as well as the coaching staff from NAX. We are very comfortable with the Xtreme program and value the relationship we have with them. We are looking forward to Logan Lorenz being a Saint and can’t wait to help and see how far he can go.” Finished Sklaruk.

The Saints would like to welcome Logan and the Lorenz family to the Saints.
