Saints Fall 6-3 To Calgary

In a closely contested matchup against the Calgary Canucks, the Spruce Grove Saints ultimately came up short, falling 6-3.

The Saints kicked off the game with a strong first period, thanks to goals from Carter Oakenfold (Calgary, AB) and Hunter Bill (Green Bay, WI), putting them ahead by two. Nevertheless, the Canucks staged a comeback, narrowing the score to 2-1 with a goal from Julien Gervais. In the final two minutes of the period, the Canucks struck twice more, surging to a 3-2 lead.

The lone goal of the second period belonged to Gervais, who secured his second of the night on the powerplay.

Entering the third period with a 4-2 deficit, the Saints were determined to mount a comeback for the win. Despite numerous opportunities, the Saints managed only one goal, courtesy of Ryan Johnstone (Pickering, ON). With just two minutes remaining in the game, Ryan De Kok (Lethbridge, AB) was pulled from the net, allowing the Canucks to score two empty-net goals. The Saints ultimately succumbed to the Canucks, concluding the game with a 6-3 scoreline.
