Saints Fall 5-3 To Oilers

(Okotoks, AB)In a fast-paced game where things were evenly matched between both teams, the Spruce Grove Saints fell to the Okotoks Oilers 5-3. 

Early into the first period, Brett Huxley scored to put the Oilers up by one. Just thirty-six seconds after Huxley’s goal, Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) scored to tie the game at one-a-piece. Soon after, Connor Gourley scored to once again put the Oilers up by one. On the powerplay at 10:14, Morgan Brady (Woking, AB) scored to tie the game up! With less than a minute left in the period, Ethan Leyer (St.Albert, AB) scored to put the Saints up by one. 

Starting the second period with the Saints leading 3-2, Brett Huxley scored early to tie things at three. Thirteen minutes later, Huxley scored his third of the night to put the Oilers up by one. 

Forty seconds into the third, Rylan Brown scored on the powerplay to give the Oilers a multi-goal lead. Rylan Brown’s goal would seal the Saints’ fate and end the game at 5-3 Oilers. 

The Saints are back on home ice this Wednesday, when they face off against the Grande Prairie Storm.
