Saints Fall 5-3 to Bandits in Penalty Filled Affair

The Saints opened the annual AJHL Showcase in Camrose against the National Jr A Champion Brooks Bandits in the first premier broadcast at the event.

Tanner Klassen would open the scoring for Spruce Grove 4:41 into the first period, with Matt Davis playing strong.

Randy Hernandez would answer for the Bandits early in the 2nd period, tying the game up at 1.

The penalties then started to come, as the Saints and Bandits each exchanged a powerplay goal making it 2-2. The Saint marker coming from Ryan Peckford, who beat the defenceman wide and snuck one in far side.

The Bandit powerplay kept coming not long after, scoring 3 unanswered powerplay goals making the game 5-2.

Loeden Schaufler ripped one upstairs early in the 3rd, but it wouldn?t be enough as the Bandits handed the Saints their first loss of the season 5-3.
