Saints Face Thunder Two More Times This Weekend

The Spruce Grove Saints, winners of three straight will take on the Drayton Valley Thunder this weekend with a home and home series set for tonight in Drayton Valey and Saturday night at the Grant Fuhr Arena.

In the first game last weekend, the Saints would get a lot of firsts, including their first win at the Grant Fuhr Arena in 2021. Brophy Dunne would also score his first regular season goal as a Saint, walking down the wall and shooting through a screen. Caiden Gault would get an assist on the Dunne goal to get a point on his 18th birthday. Sam Vincent would also score his first regular season goal as a Saint to give Spruce Grove their first lead of the game on Friday. The Saints were able to come from behind and take Friday night’s game by a final score of 4-3.

Game 2 in Drayton Valley would also feature some milestones for the Saints. Levi Hall would make his first career AJHL start and then earn his first win. Kye Whillans would score on his former team, and Keegan Law would get his first AJHL point on the Gamache game winning goal. The Saints would also win this game by a final score of 4-3.

Saints goalie Tyler Palmer is 2-0 in his last two games, making 41 saves and allowing a combined five goals in those two wins. Fans will also want to look for Brophy Dunne as the blue liner has delivered some huge hits as this series heats up.

For the Thunder, Dylan Price has 13 points on the year with four of those coming against the Saints last weekend. Price also leads his team in points.
