Saints Bolster Defence with Addition of Bladon

(Spruce Grove, AB) – General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced today that the Saints have acquired 1999 born defenseman Michael Bladon from the Calgary Canucks in exchange for a player development fee.

In 30 AJHL games this season the 6?0? ft. 195 lbs. right shot defenseman has compiled 1 goal, 2 assists and 56 penalty minutes.

General Manager Sklaruk was pleased to strengthen the Saints D-core with the addition of Bladon.

?Michael is a solid, defensive defenseman who skates well, has some size, and competes hard every night. We watched a lot of different players across western Canada over the last couple weeks and we think Michael is a player who has maybe flown under the radar a bit. We are excited to add him to our group.? Exclaimed Sklaruk.

The Calgary, AB native joins the Saints with 43 AJHL, 10 SJHL and 3 BCHL games played over the past two and half seasons across 3 different leagues.

?We expect Michael to be a strong PK guy who can play a shut down role against other teams? top players and much like Olson, make us tougher to play against. I spoke with Michael this morning and he is thrilled to be a Saint and help us down the stretch and into playoffs.? Finished Sklaruk.

Bladon will meet his new teammates in Okotoks later this afternoon and make his Saints debut when the Saints take on the Oilers at 7 pm in Okotoks tonight.

Michael will make his home ice debut Sunday, January 12th when the Bonnyville Pontiacs come to town for a 2 pm game followed by a post game public skate with the players.

You can pre-purchase your tickets online for Sunday?s and all Saints games at tickets.sprucegrovesaints.ca

The Saints organization would like to welcome Michael and his family to the team.
