(Spruce Grove, AB) ? The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 2003 born forward Sam Vincent has signed a letter of intent for the 2020-2021 season.
Vincent comes to the Saints from the Edge Academy Midget Prep team in the CSSHL (Canadian Sport School Hockey League) and joins teammate Jayden Davis as an incoming recruit to Spruce Grove for the 2020-21 season. The Cochrane, AB native registered 32 points in 30 CSSHL games by logging 9 goals and 23 assists accompanied by 30 penalty minutes in the 2019-20 season.
Head Coach Bram Stephen knows that players like Vincent have their place and value in a winning culture and he touched on that when he spoke of the newest Saint.
?Sam is an honest, hard-working, heavy player that has skill and size. The qualities that he brings are essential to compete in the AJHL. He?s someone who we expect to have success when hockey is at it?s hardest, in the playoffs. We are very excited to see him in a Saints uniform next year. He?s going to be a fan favorite with his ability to create offense while playing a rugged in your face type of game.? Stephen Finished.
Noted as someone who covets players with size and truculence, Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk see?s potential in the 6?2? 190 pound forward.
?Like we do with all our prospects, we did a lot of homework on Sam. What came back to us was a resounding message of him being top quality individual and first-class teammate. Someone who is always part of the solution. We want players like that everyday!? Exclaimed Sklaruk. ?When you see the physical nature and nastiness in his game then add the skill and size he possesses, it makes for an exciting prospect and someone who we think will be a great Saint. I?m looking forward to Sam being in Spruce Grove and we welcome him and his family to the team.? Sklaruk concluded.
In a phone interview, the soon to be 17-year-old gave his reasons for signing with the 5-time AJHL Champions and a self assessment of his game.
?I can?t wait to play in front of the fans at the Grant Fuhr Arena. They can expect to see a physical and hard-working player who can add offense and do whatever it takes to win.? Remarked an excited Vincent.
?I chose the Saints organization because year in and year out they develop players who get opportunities at the next level. As an aspiring NCAA player that?s what you want, a chance to secure a D-1 scholarship. Between that and the prospect of competing for a championship were the biggest reasons for me and my family to choose Spruce Grove.? Vincent Finished.
The Saints organization would like to welcome Sam and the Vincent family to the team
