SAINTS ADD MCANDREWS TO BLUELINE

The Spruce Grove Saints have signed 20-year-old defenseman Bryan McAndrews for the upcoming 2021-2022 season.

The Edmonton, Alberta native spent the last three seasons with the Tri-City Americans of the Western Hockey League (WHL), where he appeared in 117 games, tallying six points and 57 penalty minutes.

Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk spoke about the club’s newest addition and says, “At 6’5″, 230 lbs, McAndrews brings size and grit to our backend and is a relied upon transporter of the puck. McAndrews will fit into the Saints fast style of play and will provide excellent mentorship for our young d-core.”

Prior to McAndrews’ time with Tri-City, he played his minor hockey locally in Edmonton for the South Side Athletic Club. The McAndrews are no strangers to Saints hockey, with older brother Devon spending two seasons with Spruce Grove before moving onto a successful career in the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) with the NAIT Ooks.

The Spruce Grove Saints start their quest for a 6th Alberta Junior Hockey League Championship at home against the Sherwood Park Crusaders on Sept 17th at 7:00pm.
