Saints Acquire Cade Mason in Blockbuster Deal

Spruce Grove Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced today the club has acquired defenceman Cade Mason from the Grande Prairie Storm in exchange for forward Sam Vincent, defenceman Kegan Law and a player development fee.

Mason, a veteran defenceman, joins the Saints after spending the previous four seasons with the Grande Prairie Storm where he played 66 games, compiling seven goals, 33 assists for 40 points and 18 penalty minutes. The 20-year-old, left-handed shot blueliner is listed at 5’11, 180lbs and will join the team for tomorrow night’s home opener against the Sherwood Park Crusaders.

General Manager Rob Sklaruk spoke about the addition to his blueline saying, “We are excited to bolster our defence core with the addition of Cade Mason. Cade does everything; defend, make brilliant outlet passes with great vision, skates the puck out on his own and generates offence at the other end. He has a good calm demeanour under pressure and has great hockey sense.”

The Saints would like to thank Kegan Law and Sam Vincent for their contributions to the organization over the last season.

The Spruce Grove Saints open the 2021-2022 season at home tomorrow against the Sherwood Park Crusaders. With tons of excitement planned, including free food and drinks, Saints merchandise giveaways and a Ryan Nugent-Hopkins jersey up for grabs, it’s going to be a great night of junior hockey!
