Oakenfold Nets Winner As Saints Top Bobcats 4-1 For 5th Straight Win

(Spruce Grove, AB) – In last night’s tight-checking game, the Spruce Grove Saints defeated the Lloydminster Bobcats in a 4-1 conclusion.

Early into the first period, Ethan Kronewitt (Stony Plain, AB) scored to put the Saints up by one. Two minutes after Kronewitts’ goal, Carter Oakenfold (Calgary, AB) tipped one in to increase the Saints’ lead by two. Then, nearing the end of the period, Jack Parker scored for the Bobcats to cut the lead in half.

With no goals and only two minutes of five-on-four action, the Saints held onto their 2-1 lead heading into the third.

The third period was action-packed, with plenty of hits and some scoring. After Hunter Brown (Fort St.John, BC) was checked on the ice and received a bloody nose, Ethan Leyer (St.Albert, AB) came to his defense and got penalized for roughing. Once the Saints kill off the penalty, Leyer snipes one home to increase the Saints’ lead by two. Then, with just two minutes left in the period, Liam Watkins (Okotoks, AB) got the rebound to put the Saints up 4-2.

The Saints marched on to win the game with a final score of 4-2!
