In last night’s game, where Keifer Miller (Banff, AB) scored a pair, the Spruce Grove Saints defeated the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in a 5-2 conclusion.
Early into the first period, Miller scored his first of the night to put the Saints up by one. Then, just over halfway through the period, Caden Cabana (Bonnyville, AB) deflected one into the net to increase the Saints’ lead by two.
With an uneventful second period for the Saints, the Oil Barons scored two goals to tie the game. Just one minute into the period, Chad Muller scored to cut the lead in half. Then, with eighteen seconds left, Chad Muller got his second of the night to tie things at two-a-piece.
Late into the third period, Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) netted one home to put the Saints up by one. Just twenty-two seconds after McPherson’s goal, Miller got his second of the night to put the Saints up 4-2. Then, with just over a minute left in the game, Luigi Benincasa (Edmonton, AB) scored the empty-better to seal the deal.
The Saints marched on to win the game with a 5-2 finale against the Oil Barons!
