The Spruce Grove Saints came into tonight’s game after a huge come from behind victory against the Brooks Bandits last night. The Saints broke the Bandits 10 game win streak yesterday along with their unbeaten home record.

The Bandits would get the first goal again in this game, scoring a controversial goal that could not be reviewed. Brendan Kennette would shoot the puck into Hall’s pads and slide into the goalie causing the puck to enter the net the same time as Levi Hall. The referee called the play a goal on the ice leading to the Bandits leading 1-0 after 20 minutes. The Bandits would also lead in shots 14-10 after the first period of play.

In the second period, Jacob Rochford would sneak past the Bandits d-men and find himself on a breakaway, deking out Ethan Barwick to tie the game at 1. Back and forth the teams would go, Saints just missing a 3-on-1 and then Levi Hall denying the Bandits opportunities. Nicholas DeGraves would eventually restore the lead for the Bandits after scoring on his own rebound. Sean Chisholm would also score for Brooks, this time on the power play, building on their lead to make it a 3-1 game. Shots after the period would sit a 31-19 for Brooks.

Shane LaVelle would fire one past the Bandits goalie just 16 seconds into the third period to cut the Bandits lead to 1. Sean Chisholm would restore the 2-goal lead for the Bandits just a minute later after a between the legs goal for his second of the game. Armstrong would then score from the faceoff soon after to bring the Bandits lead to 5-2. Brayden Krieger would score after going on a breakaway to bring the Bandit lead to 6-2 with 16 minutes left in the third period. Jayden Davis would then get his 3rd goal of the weekend, scoring shorthanded on a partial breakaway. Mairs, Hughes and Armstrong would eventually score for the Bandits, bringing the final score to 9-3 for the Bandits, Brooks would also lead in shots 44-31.

The Saints and Bandits will play the final AJHL game of the year tomorrow starting at 4:00pm. Saints fans can catch all the action on the Saints Radio Network (mixlr.com/sprucegrovesaints) starting at 3:45pm.
