McKinley, Whyte, Babich Lift Saints To Game 1 Win

With an outstanding performance by Zac Onyskiw (Edmonton, AB), the Spruce Grove Saints took game one as they defeated the Sherwood Park Crusaders by a final score of 3-1!

Three minutes into the first period, Breck McKinley (St. Albert, AB) sent one home to put the Saints up by one. Then, just over halfway through the period, Tyler Miller scored to tie the game at one-a-piece. Soon after Miller’s goal, Carson Whyte (Regina, SK) scored a powerplay goal to take back the lead for the Saints!

Onyskiw remained a brick wall in the second period as there were multiple man-advantage opportunities that neither team could capitalize on.

The third period contained some more five-on-four action; however, both teams came up empty-handed. That was until Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) won the draw and sent it to Alexander Babich (Chicago, IL), who would then get the empty netter!

The Saints went on to defeat the Crusaders with a 3-1 victory! Game two goes tomorrow at the Grant Fuhr Arena at 7:00p.m.
