In a commanding display of skill by the Spruce Grove Saints, they secured a resounding 7-1 victory over the Lloydminster Bobcats!
The newly-acquired Saint, Willem Terwoord from Salmo, BC, set the tone by opening the scoring just ten minutes into the game. After briefly serving a cross-checking penalty, he pulled off a remarkable breakaway to mark his debut as a Saint with a goal. Shortly thereafter, Ryder Matter, representing Leduc, AB, demonstrated his prowess on the powerplay, extending Spruce Grove’s lead to a comfortable two goals.
Early in the second period, Kiefer Miller from Banff, AB, showcased his finesse by outmaneuvering Jack Solomon on a penalty shot, further widening the Saints’ lead to three goals. Just over a minute later, Matter added his second goal of the night. Midway through the period, Evan Sundar, hailing from St. Albert, AB, contributed a powerplay goal, solidifying the Saints’ lead at 5-0. With less than two minutes remaining in the frame, Ryan Johnstone from Pickering, ON, found the back of the net, capping off an impressive second period for the Saints.
In the final period, Michael Carter of the Bobcats managed to breach the Saints’ defense with a powerplay goal, denying Ryan De Kok from Grande Prairie, AB, a shutout. A few minutes later, Miller secured his second goal of the night, sealing the game with a resounding 7-1 victory for the Saints!
