(Spruce Grove, AB) – Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk announced today 20-year-old forward Nick Leyer will join the Janesville Jets of the US based North American Hockey League (NAHL) for the remainder of the 2021 season.
Leyer joins the list of many other Canadian based hockey players who have been forced to search for an opportunity to play games this year in pursuit of an NCAA Scholarship.
A fan favourite for the Saints, Leyer proudly wore the ?C? in a handful of games before the league shut down due to COVID-19 restrictions and was the last remaining member of the 2018 AJHL Championship team.
Leyer departs with the Saints being the only AJHL organization he suited up for. In 164 career regular season games the St. Albert native compiled 53 goals, 55 assists and 320 penalty minutes followed by 23 points (6 goals, 17 assists) in 33 playoff contests.
The Saints organization would like to thank Nick for his countless contributions to the team and the community and wish him and his family the best in future endeavours.
