Adam Lang (Sherwood Park) and Ryan Johnstone (Pickering, ON) both scored four points in last night’s 7-3 win over the Olds Grizzlys.
Fifteen minutes into the game, Evan Sundar (St.Albert, AB) opened the scoring to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Less than a minute later, Josh Polak (Calgary AB) put one home to put the Saints up by two. Soon after Polak’s goal, Lang scored his first of the night, giving the Saints a 3-0 lead. Then, with two minutes left in the first frame, Lang got his second of the night to end the period with the Saints holding a 4-0 lead.
Early into the middle frame, Rocco Lacara scored to get the Grizzlies on the board. A minute after Lacara’s goal, Lang scored his third goal of the evening to set the game at a score of 5-1!
At the four-minute mark of the final period, Avery Trotter scored on the powerplay to bring the Grizzlies within three. Soon after, Junshi Hideshima (Edmonton, AB) tipped one on the net to put the Saints up 6-2! Then, at the halfway mark, Jack Drake (Calgary, AB) tapped one home to put the game at 7-2 Saints. With less than four minutes left in the game, Jayden Watson scored on 4-on-4 to bring the Grizzlies within four.
The Spruce Grove Saints went on to defeat the Olds Grizzlys by a final score of 7-3.
