Kenney Signs LOI With Saints

(Spruce Grove, AB) ? General Manager Rob Sklaruk and the Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 2001 born defenseman Peirce Kenney has signed a letter of intent for the 2020-2021 season.

Kenney played the 2019-20 season in the United States High School Prep League at the Noble and Greenough School located in Dedham, Massachusetts.

General Manager Rob Sklaruk revealed his scouting report on the incoming defender.

?Peirce is a strong athletic defender with good size. He (Kenney) is a late bloomer that is starting to round out his game and is trending in the right direction.? Exclaimed Sklaruk.

?Peirce makes an excellent first pass, has a heavy presence down low in his own zone with the ability to put a ton of pressure and lean on attackers which leads to one on one battle success.? Sklaruk continued.

?Peirce is a defense first defensemen and prides himself in that, however we see offensive capabilities in his game that is encouraging. His ability to get shots through to the net and creating opportunities for teammates with slip and saucer passes, proves evidence of his upside. We are excited to get Peirce up here, he?s a great kid which is first and foremost in our recruiting.? Finished Sklaruk.

Kenney, who hails from Needham, Massachusetts stands 6 feet 1 inches tall and is listed at 185 pounds, touched on why he chose the Saints and what Saints fans can expect to see when he pulls on the blue and yellow Saints jersey.

?I chose the Saints because when I was going through Junior options the Saints coaching staff and management continued to go the extra mile in making me feel welcomed to the organization. For me I am always looking to continue to develop my game and it was clear that the Saints model of developing   their players is unmatched. When it came time to sign, it felt only natural to become a Saint.? Stated an excited Kenney.

?Saints fans can expect to see a big defensive D-man who likes to play a physical style game, transition pucks to forwards quickly and contribute offensively when I can. I am really looking forward to experiencing the Spruce Grove community and being a Saint!? Kenney finished.

The Saints would like to welcome Peirce and his family to the organization.
