In a game where the final score doesn’t do justice to the action, Ryan Johnstone from Pickering, ON, netted two goals as the Saints suffered a 7-3 defeat at the hands of the Bandits.
The game started with a bang as Johnstone opened the scoring just seven seconds into the match, putting the Saints ahead. However, a few minutes later, Mirko Buttazzoni’s powerplay goal leveled the score.
During the middle frame, Carter Oakenfold from Calgary, AB, capitalized on the penalty kill to gift the Saints a 2-1 lead three minutes in. Johnstone extended the lead to 3-1 midway through the period with his second goal of the night. Buttazzoni’s second goal brought the Bandits within one, and Ty Mason tied the game at three shortly after.
The Bandits then seized control of the game in the third period, scoring six unanswered goals to secure a 7-3 victory, carrying over their momentum from the second period.
