Former PAC Saint Peckford Returns to Join Saints

(Spruce Grove, AB) The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 1999 born forward and former Western Hockey League stand out Ryan Peckford will be joining the Saints for the remainder of the season.

The 6” 1’ 198-pound Stony Plain native comes to the Saints after spending 4 years split between the Victoria Royal and Moose Jaw Warrior organizations

Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk gave his thoughts on the major acquisition.

“We are thrilled to add another local hockey product to the Saints. Players with Ryan’s pedigree rarely become available. He is a top-notch individual that is exactly the type of person we want from a team culture standpoint. As an organization we are excited to add him to our line up.”

Sklaruk also provided some insight on what to expect from Peckford.

“Ryan is a high-end offensive player with good size. He possesses a heavy shot with an elite release, while also not being afraid to go to the dirty areas to score goals. We expect him to provide veteran leadership and be an impact player right away.”

Peckford departs the WHL after compiling 8 goals and 8 assists in 20 games this season with Moose Jaw, building on his career best 49 points (20 goals and 29 assists) split between Victoria and Moose Jaw last season. His overall WHL totals include 49 goals, 61 assists for 110 points in 200 games played with 64 penalty minutes.

Adding another offensive weapon is something Head Coach Bram Stephen coveted going into the stretch drive.

“With the season inching closer to playoffs goals become harder to score. Adding Ryan and his experience is certainly a huge boost to our team.”
Stephen continued “As a coach you want to work with an develop players and I am looking forward to working with Ryan to help him achieve his team and personal goals going forward.”

The Saints would like to welcome Ryan and his family to the Saints organization.

Peckford will wear #10 and is expected to make his debut with the team when the Saints host the Grande Prairie Storm this Friday January 11th at 7 pm.
