Saints General Manager Rob Sklaruk spoke about McPherson’s commitment saying, “Ewan’s development and accession as a top tier player has been impressive to watch. He (McPherson) really broke out last season in the playoffs and then carried his strong play over to this year, which has ultimately led to his commitment to AIC.”
Sklaruk Continued. “Ewan is a one-shot scorer with a willingness to go to the tough areas to score and create offense. He is big part of our team, we expect his play to continue to evolve in the second half of the season and into the playoffs, where his style of play is perfectly matched. The Saints organization is extremely proud of Ewan and congratulate him and his family on this well-deserved achievement.”
The 6’0”, 175-pound left shot forward will become the third Saint to don the Yellow Jacket jersey. The Edmonton native and minor hockey product spoke about his recent commitment. “For as long as I can remember I have had an extreme passion to gain the opportunity to play in the NCAA. I am thrilled to announce my commitment at the Division I hockey level with AIC. I am filled with gratitude for the support I have received from my parents, family, past coaches and friends, as well as my minor hockey association, The Knights of Columbus. Thank you to all the great people who helped me in pursuing this dream of mine. Finally, I want to specifically thank the Spruce Grove Saints organization for being a part of my journey, I couldn’t have done it without them. I can’t express how excited I am to become a Yellow Jacket!”
McPherson now joins Morgan Brady (Arizona State), Luigi Benincasa (Ferris State), Liam Watkins (Nebraska-Omaha), Breck McKinley (Bowling Green), Alexander Babich (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute), Carter Oakenfold (Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute) and Brandon Spaulding (Holy Cross) as committed players to NCAA Divisions I Universities this season.
