(Spruce Grove, AB) ? General Manager Rob Sklaruk and the Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 2003 born forward Jayden Davis has signed a letter of intent for the 2020-2021 season.
Davis who currently skates with the Edge Academy Midget Prep team in the CSSHL (Canadian Sport School Hockey League) is no stranger to the Saints as older brother Matthew Davis is the starting goalie for the team he is set to join full time in the fall of 2020.
The Calgary, AB native currently sits 16th in CSSHL league scoring and 2nd on his Edge Academy team, posting 19 goals, 18 assists and 14 penalty minutes in 19 games this season.
General Manager Sklaruk raved about the character and skill of the incoming recruit.
?Jayden is a first-class person and comes from an incredible family, adding another Davis to the Saints family was automatic for us. He?s a unique player because he puts up offensive numbers like a skilled player but plays the game with tenacity and isn?t afraid to get his nose dirty.? Exclaimed Sklaruk.
?We expect Jayden to transition very smoothly from midget to junior. He has a high hockey IQ and a relentless work ethic. His ability to play hard on both sides of the puck will make him successful with our group moving forward, we are thrilled to add Jayden to the team.? Sklaruk finished.
Davis has suited up in 4 AJHL regular season games for the Saints this season and while he doesn?t have any points to show for his efforts, Saints head coach Bram Stephen has liked what he?s seen in the 5?11? 170 lbs pound forward so far.
?There are nuances in Jayden?s game that allow him to be very effective even though he might not show up on the scoresheet every night.? Stated the Saints 3rd year bench boss. ?What I like about Jayden is that he already thinks and plays the game at junior ?A? speed which isn?t necessarily common for incoming players. Because of that we are confident in deploying him in all situations, whether it?s 5 on 5, on the PK (penalty kill) or powerplay. I?m looking forward to having Jayden be part of our group, much like his brother Matt, he has a bright future with the Saints and beyond.? Ended Stephen.
With that, the Davis name will continue to be and integral part of the Saints family both on and off the ice for a few more years, at least.
The Saints would like to congratulate Jayden and his family on his commitment, welcome to the team!
