The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) has announced the individual award winners for the 2020-2021 season. This season, one player from each team was named to each award.
Jayden Davis received the top rookie award presented by Royal Bank after putting up 15 points in 16 games played this season. The 2003-born forward from Calgary, AB joined the Saints this season after a successful career in the CSSHL, at the Edge School in Calgary. Davis scored key timely goals for Spruce Grove all season and emerged as a go to forward as the season progressed.
Logan Acheson was named among the top defenseman presented by Alberta Ford Dealers after tying the team lead in points with 19 this season and playing key minutes each night. The veteran 2002-born shutdown defenseman from Edmonton, AB was relied upon heavily this season by the coaching staff to go up against the other team’s top lines each night.
Tyler Palmer was selected as the top goaltender presented by CCM. The 2003-born rookie goaltender from Lethbridge, AB played the majority of the games this season for the Saints. Palmer was recruited by the Saints after three season with NAX in the CSSHL, where he won a championship in the 2018-2019 season at the U16 level. Palmer finished with a 3.68GAA, a 0.892SV% and 1 shutout this season.
Rounding out the awards this season is Saints captain and University of Minnesota-Mankato commit Graham Gamache. The 2002 from Edmonton, AB was chosen as the top forward and most valuable player presented by Viterra and Interpipeline respectively. The second year forward was tied for the team lead in points with 19 in 21 games played this season. Gamache picked up right where he left off this season after an impressive rookie campaign which saw him put up 50 points in 53 games played and secure a commitment to one of the top division one schools in the NCAA.
