Chabot Scores Two, Saints Sweep Season Series Against Thunder With 5-2 Win

The Spruce Grove Saints swept the season series against the Drayton Valley Thunder as they defeated the Thunder last night by a score of 5-2. 

The only goal of the first period was produced by Kadyn Chabot (Cranbrook, BC); he sent one home just over halfway through the period to put the Saints up 1-0.  

The second period was a whirlwind of goals and penalties. Early into the period, Jack Silverberg scored for the Thunder to tie the game at one. Thirteen minutes after Silverberg’s goal, Carson Whyte (Regina, SK) scored to take back the lead for the Saints. With forty seconds left in the middle frame, Liam Watkins (Okotoks, AB) sniped one home to give the Saints a two-goal lead. 

The Saints started the period on a nine-minute powerplay that transferred over from the previous period. Just under halfway through the final frame, Brandon Spaulding (Agawam, MS) scored to put the Saints up by three. Soon after, Chabot got his second of the night to give the Saints a 5-1 lead. With two minutes left in the period, Daniel Kernaghan scored for Drayton Valley to provide them with two goals. 

The Saints went on to win the game with a final score of 5-2 and extend their win streak to ten games!
