Chabot Scores Against Former Team, As Saints Top Thunder 3-2

(Drayton Valley, AB) – In last night’s evenly matched game, the Spruce Grove Saints defeated the Drayton Valley Thunder in a 3-2 win!

The first period was relatively uneventful as the Saints had fifteen shots and the Thunder had ten; neither team could capitalize on those chances.

The second period was very contrasted with the first. Six minutes into the period, Zachery Burns scored to put the Thunder up by one. A few minutes after Burns’ goal, Luigi Benincasa (Edmonton, AB) sniped a short-handed goal home to tie the game at one. Thirty-three seconds after Benincasas’ goal, Noah Lamb scored to take back the lead for Drayton Valley. Then, with two minutes left in the period, Kadyn Chabot (Cranbrook, BC) scored his first goal as a Saint to tie the game at two-a-piece!

The penalties dished out in the third period gave many opportunities to both teams; however, neither could exploit those chances until Liam Watkins (Okotoks, AB) tipped one in with two minutes left in the game.

The Saints went on to win the game and beat the Thunder with a score of  3-2!
