The Spruce Grove Saints are proud to announce that 1998-born forward Brandon Biro (Sherwood Park, Ab.) has committed to attend and play for the Penn State University Nittany Lions for the 2017-18 season.
Penn State plays in the BIG TEN Conference of the NCAA and currently has 3 former Saints on its roster; David Glen (Sr.), Mike Williamson (Jr.) and Dylan Richard (Jr.). The Nittany Lions are lead by Head Coach Guy Gadowsky an Edmonton native who was BIG TEN Coach of the Year last season.
“We are extremely happy to see Brandon commit to an elite program in the BIG TEN. We are excited to continue to work with and develop Brandon in all aspects of his game. We are confident Brandon will be comfortable and ready to step in and make an immediate impact in the 2017 season.” said Saints head coach and general manager Jason McKee.

I would like to thank Coach McKee, Coach Ringrose and the Saints organization for helping to develop myself over these past 2 years and look forward to next year as a Saint.” states Biro. “I also would like to thank my family and everyone else who supported me. They made it possible to achieve what I have today.”
Biro, 17, is in his second season as a Saint. Last season, the shifty, play making forward finished 2nd in Saints regular season score with 54 points (21 goals, 33 assists). Brandon was the 2nd highest scoring rookie last year, was awarded the AJHL’s R.A. (Dick) White Award as Rookie of the Year and was a finalist for Canadian Junior Hockey League (CJHL) rookie of the year. This season Brandon has 13 goals, 11 assists for 24 points in 21 games played. He has also been selected to Canada’s Team West selection camp for the World Junior A Challenge, held in Cobourg / Whitby Ont., December 13th – 19th.
