In a penalty-filled game where Jameson Kaine (Vancouver, BC) achieved his first career shutout, the Spruce Grove Saints defeated the Olds Grizzlys by a final score of 5-0!
Two minutes into the first period, Liam Watkins (Okotoks, AB) put one home to give the Saints an early lead. Sixteen seconds after Watkins’ goal, Isaac Abbott (Halifax, NS) scored to give the Saints a two-goal lead. Then, just over halfway through the period, Ewan McPherson (Edmonton, AB) got the rebound to put the Saints up by three!
There were many power play opportunities in the middle frame, but neither team could capitalize, and the Saints stayed up by three.
At the thirteen-minute mark of the period, Simon Lovsin (Stony Plain, AB) finally put one home after buzzing around the net all night! Soon after Lovsin’s goal, Luigi Benincasa (Edmonton, AB) scored to give the Saints a five-goal lead!
The Spruce Grove Saints went on to defeat the Olds Grizzlys in a 5-0 conclusion!
