The first period contained goals from three different Saints players. One minute into the game, Kadyn Chabot (Cranbrook, BC) scored against his old team to give the Saints an early lead! Halfway through the period, Sundar tips one on net to get his first of the game and give Spruce Grove a two-goal lead. Soon after Sundar’s goal, Brandon Spaulding (Agawam, MS) netted one home to end the period with the Saints leading 3-0.
Early into the second period, Alexander Babich (Chicago, IL) put one home to increase the Saints’ lead by four. Nine seconds later, Sundar scored his second of the night to put the Saints up by five! Not long after Sundar’s goal, Cooper Brown scored to give the Thunder life. Then, with five minutes left in the period, Stephen Kirkpatrick sent one home to bring Drayton Valley within three.
In a nail-biter of a third period, Drayton Valley crawled within two, and the Saints scored one goal. Early into the final frame, Brody Spencer-Ha scored to make the game interesting. Then, late in the period, Luigi Benincasa (Edmonton, AB) netted home the empty-netter.
