April 14th, 2022 – The Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) today announced the schedule for the 2022 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Finals. The best-of-seven series between the Brooks Bandits and the Spruce Grove Saints will begin on Friday, April 29th in Brooks, AB.

The Bandits and Saints will meet in the Finals for the fifth time in League history, with each team seeking a sixth League Championship – Saints (2010, 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018), Bandits (2012, 2013, 2016, 2017, 2019).

The Brooks Bandits have advanced to the League Final for the seventh time in franchise history after capturing the Viterra AJHL South Division Title. The Bandits earned a first-round bye in the 2022 Inter Pipeline AJHL Playoffs then moved on to sweep the Canmore Eagles on their way to the South Division Final where they also completed a series sweep of the Okotoks Oilers

The Brooks Bandits captured the Dave Duchak Trophy as the 2021-22 Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL) Regular Season Champions for the fifth time in franchise history. Brooks completed the 2021-22 regular season with a record of 52-6-2 and 106 points.

The Spruce Grove Saints earned a first-round bye as the top team in the Viterra AJHL North Division with a regular season record of 46-9-5 and 97 points. The Saints earned their spot in the Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Finals by eliminating the Whitecourt Wolverines and Drayton Valley Thunder in two consecutive 4-0 sweeps and winning the Viterra AJHL North Division Title.

The Spruce Grove Saints and Brooks Bandits met three times in the 2021-22 regular season with Brooks taking the series 2-1 and the home team winning each game. The Bandits won the first meeting of the year 6-4 at the Annual AJHL Showcase in Brooks, AB. Spruce Grove stole the next game with a 5-4 shootout victory in November, followed by a 5-3 win for Brooks in December.

The 2022 Inter Pipeline Cup AJHL Champion will be the first crowned since 2019 when the Bandits defeated Spruce Grove in the League Final and went on to win the RBC Cup National Championship.

The 2022 AJHL Champion will advance to the Centennial Cup presented by Tim Horton’s in Estevan, SK from May 19th – 29th, 2022.
