The Spruce Grove Saints will in action this weekend, this time, against the Brooks Bandits. Both teams will play each other three times this weekend, May 7th, 8th and 9th. Game 1 and 2 will have a 7:00pm faceoff, while game 3 will start at 4:00pm.

The Saints recently played the Drayton Valley Thunder in a 6-game set which saw each team pull out 3 victories. The Saints would grab 4 points in the first weekend, winning both games by a score of 4-3. The Thunder would then even up the series this past weekend with 2 wins of their own. The Saints would dominate game 5 and win by an 8-goal margin. Tyler Palmer would get his first AJHL shutout in the game as well. Drayton Valley would then end the series the next day with a win in their own arena.

The Brooks Bandits recently took on the Olds Grizzlies in a quick 3 game series last weekend. The Bandits would limit the Grizzlies to 6 goals while scoring 18 for themselves. Brooks sits comfortably in first place in the AJHL South and have only lost one game this year, dating back to March 28 against the Okotoks Oilers.

Players to watch…
For the Saints, Logan Acheson is on a 3-game assist streak and is currently sitting 2nd on the team in points with 1 goal and 16 assists. He was named AJHL defensive player of the week this week. Also, with 3 goals and 1 assist last weekend, Caiden Gault will look to continue his offensive production against Brooks.

For the Bandits, goalie, Jared Whale is 7-0 with a 1.40 GAA and a 0.923 SV% with 1 SO. TJ Hughes sits second in the AJHL in points with 14 goals and 14 assists.

These will be the final three games of the 2020-2021 season. Saints fans can catch all the action on the Saints Radio Network (mixlr.com/sprucegrovesaints) starting at 6:45pm on Friday and Saturday, 3:45pm on Sunday.
