SPRUCE GROVE, AB – Four members of the Spruce Grove Saints have been invited to attend the Team Canada West selection camp for the upcoming World Junior A Challenge in Dawson Creek, BC.
Goaltender Matt Davis, Defenceman Ethan Edwards, Forward Cam Mitchell & Forward Stanley Cooley were all invited.
2001 born goaltender Matt Davis, committed to the University of Denver, from Calgary, AB will be attending his second Team Canada West Camp in as many years. Last year Davis played 3 games in the tournament, with a 2.68 GAA and a 0.920 SV%. So far this season Davis has a 15-3 record, with a 2.22 GAA and a 0.911 SV%.
2001 born forward Cam Mitchell, committed to the University of Omaha-Nebraska, from Stony Plain, AB has tallied 22 pts through 26 games played this season.
2002 born defenceman Ethan Edwards, committed to the Univerity of Michigan, from St. Albert, AB has 12 pts from the blue line this season through 24 games played.
2002 born forward Stanley Cooley, committed to Northeastern University, from Regina, SK has 18 pts through 25 games played.
The event brings together two Junior A teams from Canada (West and East) for players born in 2000 or earlier, who compete against each other and international teams from Russia, the United States, and the Czech Republic.
The 2019 World Junior A Challenge will be held in Dawson Creek, B.C., from December 7th ? 15th.
